Senior Accounts Officer.
About the Role:
The Senior Accounts Officer will be responsible for managing all aspects of project and business accounting, overseeing financial operations, and ensuring the accurate reporting of financial data. This position requires a high level of organizational skill, diligence, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. The Senior Accounts Officer will lead a team of 4, providing support and guidance while working closely with the Business Manager to ensure financial efficiency and compliance across all projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage all aspects of financial reporting for the company, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of financial data.
Coordinate the budgeting and cost management process for both business operations and projects, ensuring alignment with company goals and client expectations.
Review and analyse financial reports, identifying discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for cost optimization.
Provide financial guidance and advice to senior management, assisting with decision-making processes and strategic planning.
Supervise a team of 4 accounting professionals, ensuring effective teamwork, skill development, and high performance.
Collaborate with other departments (such as project management and operations) to scope and manage project budgets, ensuring financial control and adherence to cost constraints.
Approve and manage invoices, purchase orders, and expense claims to ensure they are within budget and compliant with company policies.
Collaborate with external stakeholders to ensure financial compliance and report on financial performance.
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial and tax regulations, providing oversight and advice on matters relating to accounting and financial reporting.
Provide input into financial forecasting and planning for future projects and business expansion.
Job Requirements:
About You:
Graduate degree in accounting or a related field.
CPA qualification required.
Must be registered with the Institute of Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA).
Must hold a valid Class 3/6 Driver's License.
A minimum of 5 years' experience in business and project accounting, including budgeting, cost tracking, and financial analysis.
Experience in scoping projects and working cross-functionally with various departments, including finance, operations, and project management.
Experience in the mining industry is an advantage, but not necessary
Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in supervising a team of professionals.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Must demonstrate sober habits and adhere to company policies on workplace conduct.
Work Schedule:
This is a FIFO (Fly-In, Fly-Out) position, requiring travel to and from the project site as per operational needs.
