The PNG–Australia Transport Sector Support Program Phase 3 (TSSP3) is a critical, high-priority Australian investment that stands to make a major contribution to PNG development outcomes.
Working closely with the Government of PNG (GoPNG), TSSP3 will build on the significant body of achievements, lessons, and relationships from the past 17 years of operation and will continue to contribute to the achievement of the overarching goal of:
‘A more effective, efficient, and inclusive transport system, enabling the economic and social development of PNG.’
Gender Equity, Disability Equity, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) and Social and Environmental Safeguards, Locally Led Development (LLD), Climate Change and Disaster Resilience (CCDR) and Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, Learning and Adapting (MERLA) are a key focus for the program and are integrated into all of TSSP3’s activities and operations.
This phase of TSSP3 will run from November 2023 to November 2028.

About The Role
The Senior Coordinator Media and Communications (Senior Coordinator) will ensure TSSP3 is promoted as a major partner supporting the strengthening and reform of the transport sector in PNG. The position will assist in highlighting the significance of Australia’s investment in the transport sector, communicating success stories through original content creation, and ensuring a consistent and rigorous approach to effective communications across the program. The Senior Coordinator will also support effective communications across and within the TSSP3 team.
The Senior Coordinator will work closely with the Knowledge Management and Innovation (KMI) team, in close collaboration with the MERLA, LLD, and KMI specialists. The role will report to the Senior Manager Communications and Public Diplomacy (Senior Manager).

About You
Selection Criteria:
Tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, or marketing, or equivalent experience in communications, journalism, event management or media.
At least five years of experience in the responsibilities of the position
Exceptionally strong writing, editing and copy-editing skills in English with extensive experience adhering to the Australian Government Style Manual
Successful experience in content marketing, social media and communications management, storytelling, creating and editing digital content, contributing to brand/niche development
Well-developed communications, problem solving and analytical skills
Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects, meetings, communicate, interact, and build relationships with representatives from multiple organisations in a proactive manner
Ability to share, listen, interpret, receive and respond to feedback and an understanding of the specifics of working for a network of stakeholders in multi-cultural settings
Flair for design and presentations (desk-top publishing skills are an asset, as are knowledge of use of audio and video production in communications)
Experience in developing communication products including brochures, promotional materials, etc. both print and digital
Skilled in producing event and field photography to tell a story
Proven ability to work on internet and website editing platforms/tools (e.g. Wordpress, Wix, Squarespace)
Demonstrated competence with a range of software programs including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, email marketing programs (e.g. Campaign Monitor, Mailchimp or Vision 6) and surveying tools (e.g. SurveyMonkey).
