Oversee the integration of weekly, monthly and budget mining plans
Ensure blending strategies for mill feed and stockpile management are followed
Undertake financial analysis of open pit improvement projects
Monitor conformance and investigate variances
Report on a weekly and monthly basis to all parties regarding production figures and numbers
Coordinate and manage projects within area of accountability, to achieve completion to agreed quality, budget and schedule.
Develop project proposals for submission to Manager, Mine Technical Services.
Assist in the preparation of AFE’s for any capital projects within area of accountability.
Manage the safety, personnel, equipment and materials involved in such project execution.
Regularly report to Manager, Mine Technical Services and customers on project progress against targets.
Assist the Superintendent – Open Pit Mine Engineering in developing and improving Mine Planning and Mine Engineering Systems to ensure optimal ore extraction.
Ensure the regular review of mine planning and engineering processes and investigate, assess and where appropriate, trial new methods or technology.
Develop and monitor targets for improvement in mine production engineering service delivery.
Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated according to Company policy and statutory requirements and all recommended corrective actions are completed.
Promoting environmentally sound work practices in peers and contractors. Informing persons in work area (employees, contractors and visitors) of PJV’s Environmental Policy and Practices and notifying supervisor if persons refuse to comply.
Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline
Membership of AusIMM and PNG Institute of Engineers
Significant mine engineering experience, with experience in a senior open pit production and mine planning role in a developing country on a large open pit environment, preferably gold
Extensive experience in drill and blast engineering
Knowledge of open pit mining technology and heavy production equipment
Experience in developing the role-specific knowledge of less experienced engineers
Demonstrated success as an effective leader with the ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness
High level understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry in PNG
Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas
Advanced skills in the use of mine planning software and production databases. Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems and MS Office applications
Strong report writing and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
