We have an immediate requirement for a Business Development Manager - Projects to join our Commercial team in Port Moresby.

The Role:
Business Development Manager – Projects is responsible for the growth and development of Brian Bell Group’s, Project Sales Department. The Business Development Manager - Projects leads a team across many corporate sectors to secure a combination of one-off project sales, leading to long- term sales contracts to deliver profit growth for Brian Bell Group. This role focusses primarily on Business to Business (B2B) activity in the corporate sector as well as linking with the Brian Bell Technical Service team to ensure project quality, execution, and delivery within budget and on time is achieved. A strong business development focus is paramount, as is the need to network within corporate circles at a senior management level across all major organizations throughout PNG. Exposure or experience in Project Management will also be beneficial.
 
The Business Development Manager - Projects, will be a major contributor to the Project Sales team and budgets.
 
 
 Key Responsibilities:
  • Identifying, engaging, and converting large to major sales opportunities across a range of sectors
  • Liaising with Commercial supply partners and leveraging expertise to deliver customers’ expectations.
  • Keeping up to date with industry and market trends and reacting to changes in demand
  • Ensuring a proactive, motivated, and energized workforce; the Project sales team must engage with customers often while projects are in their inception
  • Liaising with other parts of our Group on project opportunities, coordinating other divisional activities while linking with sourcing and supply chain teams to ensure a Brian Bell ‘total solution’ is provided to our customers
  • Leading the team’s reputation for quality, service, and value in the market by ensuring all project sales and installations meet Brian Bell Group and the customers’ highest standards.
  • Establishing an opportunity pipeline across the mining sector
  • Developing tactical, mid and long-term business plans for growth
  • Developing marketing/ promotional initiatives to engage and deliver new customers
  • Leading daily weekly meetings with Projects team to ensure business activity is aligned with sales and budget expectations:
  • Leading regular meetings with executive management on performance and strategy
  • Steering major tender projects through to completion in conjunction with corporate sales
  • Regularly reviewing performance indicators, such as active pipeline, sales, conversion %, call rates etc
  • Engaging suppliers on specific projects to ensure successful conversion
  • Coordinating trade or business functions to highlight new products or market opportunities
  • Coordinating and cooperating with internal resources to deliver each opportunity on time and within budget
  • Maintaining relationships with existing suppliers and sourcing new suppliers for future products
  • Managing any quality issues and standards with suppliers. Negotiating the right commercial outcome via the buying team, with suppliers for the Group where quality standards are compromised
  • Attending trade fairs and corporate functions from time to time with projects team for lead generation
  • Participating in promotional activities
  • Writing reports and forecasting sales
  • Developing the Projects team to ensure they align with good customer service ethos and delivery of monthly sales budgets
  • Training and mentoring the Projects team
  • Ensuring all competing businesses are monitored and reported for understanding and competitive offering
Job Requirements:
Qualifications & Skills:
  • 7 -10 years Managerial and leadership experience, in B2B / Direct Sales and / or Project Management
  • A passion for large to major projects
  • Ability to work with others; lead and / or take direction
  • Ability to develop and lead a high-performance project sales team
  • Ability to think objectively and interpret meaningful themes from quantitative and qualitative data
  • Ability to evaluate financial and business indicators and translate data into actionable information to drive results, proficiency in retail math
  • Able to use rigorous logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions
  • Excellent communications skills required throughout the business and with clients
  • Able to build constructive and effective relationships with a broad and diverse group of business partners
  • Effective in a variety of presentation settings including one-on-one, small and large groups, and with peers and Executive Management
  • Can present ideas and directions that lead others to action
  • Demonstrate an ability to set objectives and goals and organize work appropriately to meet and exceed goals
  • Can identify and articulate the processes necessary to get things done efficiently and align resources effectively to complete activities
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications including Microsoft Excel
  • Anticipate risks and identify contingency plans and processes to prevent disruptions when risks occur
  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrates strong listening, written and oral communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Preferred but not essential depending on relevant experience
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently toward goals in a complex, diverse and multicultural environment
  • Experience in negotiating contracts with suppliers
  • Able to process information in the form of analysing reports, compiling stock information and verifying data for business improvements
  • Working knowledge of Pronto would be an advantage
 
Potential must be flexible to work Saturdays, and on public holidays when required.  This role requires a Police Clearance certificate as a minimum requirement.
