INTERNAL AUDITOR

Our client, International Education Agency of PNG (IEA) is looking for a passionate and experienced Internal Auditor who has worked with one of the Big Four. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for the right candidate. Candidates that meet the ‘must have’ requirements are strongly encouraged to apply. The role is based at the Head Office, Port Moresby.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Risk assessment: Identify and evaluate financial, operational, and compliance risks.
  • Audit planning & execution: Developing audit plans, performing detailed reviews of financial transactions, accounting records, & operational processes to verify accuracy & compliance.
  • Control testing: Assess internal controls’ effectiveness and document findings. 
  • Fraud investigation: Investigating suspected fraudulent activities within the organization. 
  • Reporting & communication: Preparing comprehensive audit reports outlining findings, recommendations for improvement, and potential areas of concern to management and audit committee. 
  • Follow-up & monitoring: Tracking the implementation of corrective actions based on audit findings.
  • Compliance review: Ensuring adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. 
  • Continuous improvement: Identifying opportunities to enhance internal controls & audit processes.
Job Requirements:

The successful applicant must have:
 
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Economics or related field
  • Membership of PNG CPA or equivalent
  • Accounting and auditing knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, auditing standards, and internal control frameworks, preferably at a team leader level.
  • Analytical skills: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Critical thinking: Evaluate information objectively and form well-supported opinions.
  • Communication skills: Effectively communicate findings and recommendations both verbally and in writing to diverse stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving skills: Identify root causes of issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Professional certifications: Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation is often preferred.
