Job Description:
Responsibilities include:
 
  • To develop and conduct a weekly vehicle prestart with all drivers on a Monday morning and keep the documentation active check and spot check all weekly prestart documentation and be directly responsible for holding vehicle operators accountable for their vehicles.
  • To assist stores in keeping the relevant consumables, and identify critical parts on hand for component repair for in house service and general repairs on trucks and at all times so there is no out of stock situations and carry out cost cutting as much as possible.
  • To honestly evaluate and provide diagnosis reports and inspection defects and plan between high Priority repairs and Urgent repairs recommend to Fleet Supervisor/ fleet manager as soon as possible.
  • Responsible for requesting or facilitating continuous training to upgrade your technical knowledge of systems under your control i.e. NAV, Microsoft Word / Excel / Trade Skills and Knowledge etc.
  • Follow all safety procedures especially PPE.
  • Stay up to date with latest servicing and mechanical best practices and concepts
  • Will be responsible for Fleet Truck servicing and assist Fleet Manager create
And improve servicing checklists on service types for trucks

Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Grade 10 or 12 with formal certification in mechanical engineering with 3-5 years’ experience in similar role.
 
DESIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Must possess high level of trade skills to out quality repair across POM fleet Trucks   
 
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENT:
  • Competence in general servicing, troubleshooting and repairs of trucks and
  • Competence in Job card Systems and reporting procedures
  • Competence in oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability and traits to train in house trainee(s) to meet workshop operational standards.
