Job Description:
An exciting opportunity exists for an SMP Project Engineer - Mechanical to join the site-based engineering team for the Monadelphous & Santos providing the Engineering, Procurement, and construction (EPC) Services to Santos Limited’s oil field wells, gathering systems and flow lines, processing facilities and export systems in Papua New Guinea. (Formerly known as Oil Search Limited).
You will detail the technical and quality requirements for Maintenance Support Services and Minor projects and provide technical support to the execution team through the life of the projects. In this role you will also provide Structural, Mechanical and Piping input into the Santos Management of Change process where this directly relates to projects in your remit.

Reporting to the Lead Project Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Identify hazards and advise on safety procedures. Actively monitor work practices to ensure adherence to correct procedures and standards for safety and environmental performance.
  • Develop cost effective engineering solutions for the projects. Review project/ contract documentation and raise technical queries as required.
  • Produce construction work packs assuring all safety, technical and quality requirements comply with all relevant specifications and standards.
  • Contribute to the development of construction methodologies and technical works to be undertaken during projects.
  • Communicate with the execution team on a regular basis on technical, quality and design requirements.
  • Deliver accurate and timely reporting on projects issues arising in a proactive and timely manner providing control strategies.
  • Interface with the client providing advice, technical or functional information as required. Answer queries from client representatives regarding general and technical engineering issues.
  • Assist with planning and scheduling the projects, confirming project resource and equipment availability for meet project delivery requirements.
  • Work in accordance with quality assurance procedures, client specifications and ISO requirements.
  • Take the lead role in procurement through accurate Material Take Off and Bill of Material development.
  • Establish constructive working relationships with the Project Delivery, Production, Asset Management and Engineering teams.
Job Requirements:
This role is based in Iagifu Ridge Camp Kutubu, however, travel to any facilities associated with the project will be necessary as required. These facilities include Agogo Production Facility (APF), Gobe Production Facility (GPF), Hides Productions Facility (HPF), Kutubu Central Processing Facility (CPF), Kumul Marine Terminal (KMT) and Kutubu Pipeline System (KPS).

We're looking for someone with:
  • Who always thinks and acts safely,
  • Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering satisfying the eligibility requirements for registration with the Institution of Engineers PNG, with relevant on-site industry experience in the resources industry, engineering, or construction industry. Understanding of trades and disciplines involved in site/project operations.
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary engineering project delivery environment – electrical, instrumentation, civil, structural, mechanical or pipeline fabrication and installation projects in the hydrocarbon, mining, power or similar industries.
  • Experience / understanding of the development of project / construction schedules, work packs and progress reporting.
  • Ability to understand and interpret detailed engineering drawings. Translate drawings for purposes of producing material take offs, procurement requirements i.e vender data requirements, resourcing, project scheduling and risk identification.
  • Experience preparing project budgets and managing costs.
  • High level interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff at all levels of an organisation and external stakeholders.
