SR. UNDERWRITING MANAGER


We are looking to urgently hire a Sr. Underwriting Manager to select risks as per Liberty Assurance Ltd. underwriting guidelines, process premium in the underwriting system and issue policy documents within the agreed benchmarks. To look after the various reinsurance arrangements including treaty and facultative reinsurance protection for all classes of business written by the company. Assist in implementation of the company’s reinsurance program based on overall company’s objectives. This role reports to the
Chief Executive Officer & Chief Operations Manager.


Key Responsibilities
 
  • Examining insurance proposals of all lines.
  • Collecting background information and assessments of risk
  • Writing quotes and negotiating the terms with brokers and clients,
  • Determining premiums, data entry, and underwriting.
  • Liaising with insurance brokers and customers.
  • Address inquiries and resolve complaints/queries from customers and claims appropriately
  • Open and maintain orderly underwriting files per policy.
  • Prepare COCs, policies, and endorsements for all lines of business in a timely manner.
  • Provide monthly reconciliation of COCs, Policies, premiums and Reinsurance closings.
  • Conduct and maintain records of quarterly underwriting file reviews and audits.
  • Coordination with team members for renewal retention.
  • Ensure that all acceptances are protected by proper reinsurance arrangement on a back-to-back basis without any gaps in risks accepted and reinsurance protection availed
  • Prepare reinsurance slips/reinsurance contracts ensuring its accuracy with reference to the original terms at which reinsurance is accepted.
  • Follow up with broker/ceding company for timely submission of closing and accounting documents as well as for settlement of premiums from ceding companies.
  • Prepare reinsurance underwriting statistics and reinsurance recoveries therefrom on a regular basis and update the same at periodic intervals as per requirement.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirements:



Key Requirements
 
  • Must have a degree in a related field.
  • Must have 5 years of experience in the Underwriting & Reinsurance department of a reputed insurance company.
  • Must have good computing skills.
  • Experience in handling all lines of business (expertise in Health & Property)
  • Has a good understanding of policies of all lines of business
  • Has excellent data viewing skills on insurance applications and policies
