Laboratory Technician

Based – Lae

Description of role

A lab technician’s role is to be punctual, then safely, carry out analysis of oil and fuel samples, while maintaining a clean and tidy work area.
 
Job Requirements:


Qualification
 
  • The applicants for this role should hold at least one of the following qualifications
  • Hold a tertiary qualification, in chemistry, metallurgy, engineering
  • Hold formal qualifications as a laboratory technician.
  • Hold formal qualifications as a nurse
  • The incumbent must be fluent in English both written and verbal.
  • Any prior experience of working in a laboratory will be an advantage.
  • Competent with the operation of computers and computer- based systems.

Duties
 
  • Follow all safety procedures issued for the laboratory and within the Dunlop facilities
  • Wear all PPE issued for each of the tasks you are required to perform.
  • Only carry out those tasks for which you have been formally trained.
  • Receive oil samples from clients and enter client/equipment information into the LIMS
  • Using the laboratory equipment carry out the analysis
  • Maintain a clean work area,
  • This will involve cleaning the lab and office floors,daily.
  • Disposing of testing waste in designated locations,
  • Wiping down benches and instruments at least daily
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy workplace in the office.
  • Other duties within the laboratory complex as assigned by the laboratory staff.
