Job Description:
Reporting to the Plant Metallurgist, the incumbent will oversee the performance of the processing plant in terms of operating efficiency and recovery as well as improving and maintaining performance in terms of safety, production and cost control. As part of the Graduate Program, the person will be required to spend time in various sections of the processing plant; including crushing and grinding, flotation, pressure oxidation and refinery.

Key responsibilities:
  • Ensuring metallurgical accounting records are maintained and daily metallurgical accounting reports are issued in a timely and accurate manner
  • Pursue new methods and practices for improving and optimising plant performance
  • Monitor usage of consumables
  • Reviewing reports, calculations and technical data analysis
  • Provision of technical guidance to operating personnel
  • Optimising metallurgical performance
  • Perform metallurgical laboratory test works when required
  • Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with the PJV Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health and safety rules and procedures
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate must have:
  • A degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering.
  • A recent graduate after 2012 with 1 to 2 years work experience.
  • Sound communication skills and computer literacy in Windows applications (MS word, excel)
  • Relevant exposure to accounting principles, willingness to train, report writing and presentation skills are critical to the role
  • The incumbent must be a team player, be highly organised and able to perform multiple tasks paying attention to detail and deadlines
