The Position The Special Projects Manager (SPM) reports to the IF4 Team Leader and is responsible for managing the implementation of Special Projects including: working with the Australian High Commission to discuss and define concepts; conduct feasibility and scoping activities to prepare reports; develop detailed implementation plans and budgets; and, following approval, manage the implementation of projects from start to completion. Special Projects are expected to include a significant amount of infrastructure sub-contract management. The SPM will, as required, also assist to contribute to the delivery of IF4 as a senior manager of the team, and, if needed, on occasion act as the IF4 Team Leader. The SPM will also work to support the policy and procedures of IF4 and ensure the implementation of the Work Health and Safety Management System for the program.
The Person The ideal candidate will have tertiary qualifications and strong experience in effective infrastructure project management, ideally in a PNG or another development context. Demonstrated experience in managing a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the implementation and management of multiple projects from small to large scale construction activities will be highly regarded. To ensure success, candidates will also need to have the ability to work across the public, private and civil society sectors and have exceptional inter-personal and communication skills for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
