Job Description:
Barrick (Niugini) Limited ("BNL") is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea, and operates the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province on behalf of the Porgera Joint Venture partners. BNL is an independently managed company and is jointly owned through an equal partnership between Barrick Gold and Zijin Mining Group. The Porgera Gold Mine employs over 2,500 Papua New Guineans, and over the life of the mine it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports.   
The Porgera Joint Venture now has a vacancy for qualified and experienced individuals in the following position:
 
Specialist – HR Information Systems (NS4475-1)
 
Specialist - Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) is responsible for implementing and maintaining HR Information management systems for the business; provide IT support to maintain data integrity, accuracy and consistency of all HR information in HR Oracle, related-databases and records to ensure good customer service is provided to all employees within their respective area of responsibility.  

Job Responsibilities:
  • Administer, support and maintain HR Information systems and other PJV application tools (e.g. ID Facial Recognition system)
  • Assist in the management of the HR Information Systems, Employee and Contractor information - effective interface with the payroll system and compliance with all legislative and PJV corporate requirements.
  • Train and mentor less experienced HRIS team members.
  • Conduct regular system audits to ensure data integrity, accuracy and consistency is maintained across HR Oracle system and other filing databases/records system.
  • Monitor HR systems and business processes, identify and prioritise improvement opportunities and formulate alternatives and improvements to systems, tools and methods currently in place.
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate must have:
  • Qualifications (Degree/Diploma) in HR or IT/Computer Science or any related field.
  • Experience (3-5 years) in HR and IT practices, standards and policies.
  • Experience in development and application of HR systems (e.g. Oracle/JDE).
  • Demonstrated success as an effective leader.
  • High level understanding of MS Office applications – Advanced skills in MS Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness.
